Most of her art is done using acrylic paints, oil paints, and sometimes a mixture of both. Ella uses art to express her views on religion, sexuality, nature, and the human psyche. She often find the fuel to spark her creativity in her dreams, her day to day experiences and observations, and in other artists work. Most of her paintings fall into the category of surrealism, a style which artists such as Mark Chagall, Frida Kahlo, and Lenora Carrington have taught her to love. Many of Ella's paintings depict figures placed in dreamlike environments. Ella found a strong sense of fascination with the depiction of females and deities in folk art after the book "Goddesses in Art" by F. Graham was gifted to her. Since the age of 10, Ella's mother has been taking her to various festivals and ceremonies which helped Ella gain a passion for learning about Paganism, and specifically the worship of femininity throughout history. This subject is underlying theme in much of her work, and continues to be something of immense interest to her. |
